How do I get started?
If you are interested in getting more information or setting up an appointment, please CONTACT Dr. Gallagher. She will schedule a brief, complimentary phone consultation where she can answer any questions you may have about treatment services and determine whether we are a good fit for your needs. At that time, you can also set up the initial appointment.
Are sessions in person or virtual?
Dr. Gallagher sees clients in her office in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn or virtually via SimplePractice’s Telehealth platform for clients located in New York and Florida.
What can I expect in my first appointment?
The first appointment will be a 60-90 minute consultation session. The purpose of this session is to gain information about what brings you to treatment and for you to learn more about our treatment approach. In this session, you will discuss the nature of your current difficulties as well as relevant history and goals for therapy. We will also discuss initial treatment recommendations.
How often do we meet?
Clients typically attend therapy for 45 minutes every week. However, during the intake appointment, you will discuss a treatment plan and agree upon the frequency of sessions.
How long does treatment last?
Dr. Gallagher’s treatment approach is goal-oriented and designed to be short-term; however, the length of treatment varies from client to client depending on each person’s needs, current difficulties, and goals. Realistic expectations for length of treatment can be discussed after working together to determine specific treatment goals.
Do you accept insurance?
Like many providers in New York City, Dr. Gallagher is an out-of-network provider and does not accept insurance directly. She can provide the documentation necessary should you wish to submit for reimbursement from your insurance company.
How do I know if my insurance company will reimburse me for sessions?
Dr. Gallagher recommends that you contact your insurance company prior to the start of therapy to determine your out-of-network benefits. Reimbursement rates vary depending on the specific plan. When you call your insurance provider, you can ask the following questions:
Do I have out-of-network benefits to see a licensed psychologist?
If so, what percentage of sessions do you cover?
Is there a session limit, and if so, in what time period?
Is pre-authorization required?
What is the deductible, and how much of the deductible have I met?
How do I access the necessary form to submit for reimbursement?
It is often necessary to provide the CPT code for the service provided. The CPT code for a 45-minute individual therapy session is 90834, and the CPT code for an intake assessment is 90791. If you submit for reimbursement, your insurance company will process your claim and reimburse you directly.
What are your fees?
Please contact Dr. Gallagher for current fees. Prior to beginning treatment, you will receive a good faith estimate for services as per the No Surprises Act.
What form of payment do you accept?
Payment is expected at the time of service. Credit cards, checks, and cash are all accepted forms of payment.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please provide as much notice as possible if you need to reschedule or cancel a session. Sessions cancelled with less than 24-hour notice will be charged in full.
Do you have a client portal?
Yes, all paperwork, billing, and virtual sessions are completed through SimplePractice.
